The Empowered Everyday Leader Series

So often teen girls think that the only way to be a leader is to do BIG things that result in great recognition, like being voted team captain or class president, or getting the lead role in the play. What they fail to realize is that leadership is about being confident enough to share their voice and go after those things that are most important to them. It is about earning respect from others and making a difference in everyday situations.

In this workshop series, teen girls will learn who they want to be as a leaders, the strengths they’'ll lean into, and the values they want to honor as they make a difference in their world every day.

These workshops will take place Sunday afternoon September 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Just As You Are

It's okay to want to be your best – but sometimes teen girls set impossible standards for themselves causing a constant loop of self-criticism. In fact, of the 60,000 - 80,000 thoughts that teens have each day, 80% of those thoughts are negative about themselves or others.

Inspired by the work of psychologists Michelle Skeen and Shirzad Chamine, and my own work as a coach, this workshop will help girls explore how to become aware of their critical inner voice and provide practical solutions to stop the “compare and despair” game and shut down those over-       judgmental thoughts. Participants will learn how to use mindfulness tools to identify their unique strengths and learn specific ways to cultivate true and lasting self-compassion which can result in less depression, anxiety, fear of failure, and dependence on others for validation. By attending this workshop, teen girls will walk away feeling worthwhile, “Just as they are.”

Resourcesfulness: You CAN Rescue Yourself (Private Event)

Although information is at an all-time high and it has never been so easy to find answers to questions, or solutions to problems, the motivation and determination to get that information is at an all-time low. Each year as technology advances, we use our brains to think and create solutions to our problems much less. Instead, we simply Google our questions, create a post on social media, or accept the opinions of others through various media outlets. This, in turn, has made resourcefulness one of the most under developed skills set in the world.

In this quick one hour “Brunch & Learn” session, attendees will explore perspectives that keep them from being resourceful and learn ways to not only overcome these perspectives, but how to actually become more resourceful!

GOTR Dream It. Do It. Be It. Virtual Event

How does an hour of inspiration, empowerment and confidence-boosting in the comfort of your own home sound? What if several of the nation’s most influential women are spearheading the charge? This spring, together with Girls on the Run International, I am proud to be hosting that very event.

I would love you to join me as my guest on Thursday, March 31 at 7:00 pm EST/ 6pm CST for Dream it. Do it. Be it…a virtual event to benefit Girls on the Run. It will be an incredibly inspirational event – we will kick it off with a conversation with Simone Biles, GOTR alums will share their stories of perseverance and triumph, and Sara Bareilles will give a special performance of her hit song, Brave. I cannot wait to tune in and hope you will as well!

As you know, Girls on the Run is near and dear to my heart. Over the past two years, we have heard from girls and their families how critical a role Girls on the Run has played in strengthening their physical, social and emotional health. As girls navigate through year two of a global pandemic, your support of Girls on the Run matters now more than ever. Participating in this fundraising event will help ensure that the organization can continue to offer a safe and welcoming space where girls can connect in a meaningful way with their peers, learn coping and stress management strategies and build their confidence, strength and self-worth.

I hope you can join me virtually on Thursday, March 31, for this inspiring and heartfelt evening. Your support is the reason why more than two million girls have broken barriers to reach their dreams at Girls on the Run. Click on the link below to learn more and to RSVP as my guest. Please be sure to select my name from the Event Host list during registration.

Thank you so much for your support. I look forward to “seeing” you there!

P.S. – If you are unable to attend, but would like to make a gift in support of the incredible work Girls on the Run is doing to empower girls, please use the “donation” link. Thank you!

YPN Focus Workshop (Leadership & Influence-Part 2)

People say that leaders are born, not made. While it is true that some people are born leaders, some leaders are born in the midst of adversity. Often, people who have never had a leadership role will stand up and take the lead when a situation they care about requires it. For example, parenting. When a child arrives, many parents discover leadership abilities they never knew existed until it came time to guide and protect their child(ren).

Once a person learns the techniques of true Leadership and Influence, s/he will be able to build the confidence it takes to take the lead. The more experience s/he has acting as a genuine leader, the easier it will become. It is never easy to take the lead, as one will need to make decisions and face challenges, but it can become natural and very rewarding.
